The ECHR condemns the Spanish State for violation of freedom of expression in the case of burning photos of the king

The ECHR has handed down judgment today March 13 in the case Stern and Roura against the Kingdom of Spain in which it has declared the violation of freedom of expression in the sentence for insults to the crown of 2007 for the burning by two citizens of a great image of the kings of Spain.

The sentence highlights the importance of freedom of expression in a democratic society, the right to protest even in the form of provocation and how it is inappropriate to describe the facts in the context of hate speech that would justify the limitation of freedom of expression.
